In your postnatal recovery,  pilates is a great way to regain strength and stamina after birth. It's about exploring the new YOU,  learning how to care for yourself and recover without the risks of heading back to unsuitable exercises in a desire to regain your former body.

I want to show you have to care for your body by staying fit, active and healthy during your pregnancy and postnatal journey. Investing in pilates will put you on the path to a healthier YOU throughout your journey as a mother.

How are you preparing your mind and body for childbirth? Imagine entering to run a marathon without any training – would you risk it? How can pilates support pregnancy and birth?

 

I will teach you how to move safely, control your mindset, and prepare for birth using methods taught during the class. It's much more than pilates; each class is formed of a community of women, all on the same journey in life. I show you a way to understand your body and mind as it transforms during pregnancy and so that you are prepared for the transition after your baby is born.

 

I also incorporate breathing into the classes by teaching a series of techniques that can help ease the discomfort of muscle spasms, aches and pains by encouraging relaxation and focus with preparation for birthing.

 

I believe that the more you commit to preparing your body, the easier you’ll find pregnancy to be and the greater and more profound your childbirth experience will be.

Weekly classes are held:

  • Mondays 6:30-7:30pm, Robina Community Centre

  • Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm, Mudgeeraba

Postnatal Pilates

Suitable from 6 weeks postnatal (with medical clearance to exercise) 

Why does my tummy still look like I am pregnant? Why am I not quite making it to the toilet in time? When can i start running again?

I want to show you how to reconnect with your pelvic floor and strengthen the muscles deep within your core, working from inside to out, without pain and discomfort. I want to show you a way to heal your mummy tummy (rectus diastasis) so you can feel confident and strong again. 

My approach is a holistic one, treating you to move again after birth, whether it was a vaginal delivery or a c-section.  This early stage is to be taken slowly, to ensure a full recovery without adding any injuries to your healing process. You will need clearance from the doctor or midwife to return to exercise again. 

 

The recovery results achieved in my postnatal pilates  sessions are outstanding because time is taken to learn to reconnect the pelvic floor, by the practise of contracting and relaxing the muscle. I also work with breathing patterns, and encourage good posture alignment for breastfeeding.

 

I want to give you the self confidence to achieve your bigger fitness goals down the line. My classes vary from brand new mums to women who are with me for five years after giving birth. The workouts are fun and I adapt each exercise for you as an individual to ensure each stretch is suitably challenging to meet your postpartum needs. 

 

The benefits of coming to the classes are much more than pilates – it’s a way of life, a coming together as mums, sharing our wins, sharing our hard times, being amongst mums all in the same boat, creating a mothers group and collecting lifetime friendships. 

I offer new mums an initial assessment and from  6 weeks postpartum with medical clearance to exercise.  

I cater for your individual needs by teaching you one to one or in a small studio class setting.  

This is perfect for the mum wanting to heal after birth and learn how to exercise with individual attention to your needs.
